Starting life as a Trevelyanite

As Durham quietened down for the evening, with thousands of parents heading off to all ends of the country, it was time for the new Trevelyanites to immerse themselves into college life, and what better way than a gowned formal?!
The Fresher's gathered, gowned, suited and booted and anticipated one of the most notable traditions the college holds. They filed into the dining hall, took their seats and awaited the arrival of high table. Upon which the dining hall descended very quickly into silence, and the scrapping of chairs welcomed in the Senior Common Room (SCR) as the Fresher's stood in traditional form.

Silent grace followed, and then a toast to the college was wished by the JCR President. It was then time to sit and enjoy the fantastic food and ambience of this distinguished event. Fresher's chatted away, learning about their new neighbours, the courses they are about to embark on, their life before Trevs, and what they are most excited for in the week ahead.

As formal drew to a close, and the Prof bowed out (not forgetting the tradition of spoon banging!), the Fresher's were directed to the bar where their first Trevelyan Bar Night experience began. Music was supplied by our resident DJ's, third years Benedict and Gareth, and the bar went crazy for almost every song they played.

Many of this years Trev's tie-dye Fresher's t-shirts could be spotted amongst the excitable crowd, and the first night proved (once again) that as soon as you arrive, you have a special allegiance to Trevs, one which carries on for a life time.

A number headed out into town accompanied by the Freps (who eventually got to bed at 3:30am!)only to be up for the morning wake up at 7:30! The life of a frep, ey!

Let's hope they all managed an early start for college matriculation, and a whole year photograph...
