Keeping it Fresh!

Yesterday marked one of the most fantastic days in the Trevs calendar..Freshers' Sunday! Freps (Freshers' Reps) lined the cobbles, raring to approach the first car that passed down the Trevelyan drive, eagerly welcoming the newbies to their home for the next year. Music blared, Reps waved pom poms and created cheers, making sure that everyone driving past and heading for another college knew they had made a mistake in not coming to Trevs!
(What would Trevs be without Trevor?!)

The College was welcoming, with a buzz of noise and excitement that had been missing over the summer months. Our JCR President, Hannah, and one half of the Senior Frep team, Grace, welcomed the new students, handing them packs of information, whisking them away to collect their keys, followed by Freps showing them to their room whilst it magically filled with their belongings from home.
Even our Principal, Prof. Evans, got involved, directing cars with table tennis bats, and carrying whatever he could into the students' new rooms.

The Arrivals Process:
Trevs prides itself on the fantastic welcoming ambience we present to all those who pass through the front door, and Freshers' Sunday is no exception! As the cars indicated to turn into the driveway, the fastidious arrivals process began. Freps cheered as streams of new students arrived, they were directed to park in front of the college reception, before being welcomed to Trevs and brought inside. A sticker with the students room number was stuck to the car, and another to the student themselves. In the time it takes for the student to get their key and be shown to their room, a stream of Freps appear, each carrying the indivudal's (often entire) possessions, and within minutes their new home at Trevs is created.

A fantastic process, one of speed and precision, and with many messages of joy from parents who dread trying to unpack all (plus the kitchen sink!) after only loading the car hours earlier. The true heros though, are the Freps. Working tirelessly without a single complaint, and a smile on every face. The pride and honour for Trevs prevailed, with every single one not being able to do enough to help the new Fresher's. An immense credit to Trevs.

Amongst all the excitment, our early arrivals who have been here for the past few days, and a number of international students took the opportunity to finally purchase their gowns, and headed out to the botanical gardens...in their gowns! As they floated away, gowns flowing behind in their wake they chatted away about the joys of Trevs, and the Harry Potter-esque theme that prevails in this magical town!

But, what kind of fun and frivolity happened once the parents left?!...I guess you'll have to hold up and wait for the next instalment of Trevelyan Freshers' Week!
